It all began March 22, 2008.  The place - Cardinal Fitness Gym.  I first noticed her months before but this was the day we met. I never had the courage to approach her before, but this day we just happened to be working out side-by-side on the mats (doing a strangely similar workout.)

This is when I first noticed him.  I finished working out still wondering if he had noticed me too.  A few moments later I was ready to leave and guess who happened to be finishing up at the very same time.  I was not disappointed by this coincidence.  He was ahead of me and stopped to hold the door.

She gave me a quick smile and that is all I needed. My pick up line was the oh-so-original “you look familiar.”  I asked her if she went to LT hoping to start up a conversation (knowing full well that I didn’t know anyone who went there :).

I told him I wasn’t from around here, and like the joker that he is he responded with, “well then what are you doing here?”  This is when I first noticed his smile.  We continued to chat as we walked to our cars.  As we approached his car, I realized I did not park anywhere near where we were heading.  (In my defense, I usually did park over there, but not this day.)  It had only been a moment and we were saying goodbye, see ya later.

I sat down, started the engine and realized that she had just walked me to my car - what a dummy I was for not asking for her number.  I went into attack mode and pulled my car next to hers before she was gone forever.

I was sitting in my car feeling excited - yet disappointed that the moment was over.  It took me a minute to remember where I was or what I was supposed to be doing. I looked up and his car was next to mine.  He asked if he could give me his number - what a gentleman.  But since I couldn’t find my phone to write it down, I gave him mine instead.  He left.  I drove home.  All I can say is that I had this weird feeling that my life had been changed forever.

I followed the normal cool guy rule and waited 4 days before I called her.  I was on the way to the gym and realized if I ran into her it would have been awkward that I hadn’t called her yet.

I had just walked in from the gym when my phone rang.  It was him.  We talked for a few minutes and we decided to meet up later that night.  We met at Palmers and talked, and talked, and talked.  We closed Palmers down and headed to the next place.  We talked, and talked some more.

This is how we met, this was our very first date, and the rest is history.
